The National Type 1 Diabetes Council is the peak body dedicated to supporting Australians living with type 1 diabetes.

The National Type 1 Diabetes Council follows the model established by the National Allergy Council (nationalallergycouncil.org.au) that brings together clinical and consumer organisations in a trusted collaboration to govern, inform, design and implement strategies, programs, and services aligned to the needs of Australians living with type 1 diabetes.
Doing better for type 1 diabetes
The objective of the National Type 1 Diabetes Council is to improve the lives of Australians living with type 1 diabetes by leading the adoption and implementation of best practice strategies.
Our role
The National Type 1 Diabetes Council provides the leadership, oversight, decision making and control mechanisms to deliver better health, wellbeing and quality of life outcomes for those living with type 1 diabetes.

The Council assembles stakeholders, advocates and experts to collaborate and provide authentic and trustworthy consultation to inform strategies, determine policies, and deliver accessible programs and services.

The Council commits to sustainable programs and services that accommodate and satisfy individuals with type 1 diabetes, their families, healthcare professionals, schools, workplaces and communities.

The National Type 1 Diabetes Council designs, develops and delivers strategies, policies, programs, and services for type 1 diabetes that intersect with a broad and complex range of stakeholder requirements.
The Council provides the structure, accountability, integrity and engagement to effectively collaborate with all relevant stakeholders, consumers, authorities, industry sectors and organisations.
We comprehensively evaluate the strategies and frameworks for people living with type 1 diabetes and their families in the context of the social, community and economic environments in which they operate.
